Bad Company

—Ram Records

Posted on: 30.06.2016

Having been fans of Bad Company since 1998 when they dropped The Nine  / The Bridge on BC Recordings, we were excited to get a call from our client Ram Records to let us know the drum & bass quartet had reformed and were in the process of signing a new record deal with the label.

The first two tracks were complete, the logo had been reworked and a design brief with simplicity at it's core was sent over. With that in mind we dropped the track titles from the front of the sleeve and set the Bad Company / Ram Records logos in Pantone Silver overlaid with Spot UV from impact and elegance. For the reverse we mirrored the layout, using the space occupied by the BC logo with the track titles and label copy. If you're a diehard (or ageing) fan like we are you can head over to the Ram shop and bag yourself a copy HERE.

Spectrasoul

—Ish Chat 001 & 002

Posted on: 26.03.2016

Having recently ended their record deal with Shogun Audio, Spectrasoul have taken the progressive step to release new music under their own label Ish Chat. Having built a good working relationship with the duo over the past few years we were excited to be asked to design the sleeves for the Only You EP & Sound Stock EP. The basis of our artwork is the bold, geometric icon that was developed for their debut album Delay No More. The icon has become a visual representation of Spectrasoul, so much so that it was decided not to use any kind of descriptive text for the front cover. The back sleeve and centre sticker uses the sans serif font Maison Nue and the sleeve itself was printed on reverse board to give a slightly textured feel to the final product. Future releases will see a single colour change and copy update to create a set releases with a simple, yet powerful identity.www.spectrasoul.bandcamp.com/album/only-you-ep

London Grace

—No Nonsense Nails

Posted on: 26.02.2016

Towards the end of 2015 we were are asked by Eve Reid to create a seasonal design system for her client London Grace, a no nonsense nail bar / coffee shop on Putney High Street. The brief was to create a frame that borders the large windows, enticing customers and passers by to look in and visit the shop. We used a basic nail shape, creating a pattern set in metallic gold applied directly to the inside of the windows. The installation has a high impact especially at dusk when the interior shop, and exterior street lights catch the gold foil. Eve's company Metamorphosis specialises in Visual Merchandising. Visual Merchandising is not just about making things look pretty, it’s about making sure that products sell. It impacts on the way a store is designed; the way a store is laid out; the stores signage; how the products and services are presented. If used wisely all of these elements can be an incredible lever that can have an amazing impact on sales.

Hospitality Brighton

—10 Years Deep

Posted on: 29.01.2016

In December we celebrated the 10th Birthday of Hospitality Brighton, a club night we began promoting back in 2005. At the time we were regulars at Herbal for the first Hospitality nights in East London and we knew the guys from Hospital Records well, so it seemed like the perfect time to try our hand at club promoting. Luckily for us there was a new venue in Brighton by the name of Audio, and the popularity of Hospital Records was going through the roof. 52 parties and ten years later, we went full circle and took the Hospitality back to Audio for one last sell out party. The artwork for the night made use of the Hospital Records Camo that we designed for the record label in 2006, and listed every DJ and MC we'd ever booked, highlighting the DJ's in red that were playing the 10th Birthday. Things have changed quite a bit over the past decade with filthy taking up most of our time, and while there maybe more HB's in the future, the 10th Birthday at Audio Brighton will be a party we remember for a long time to come.
