BHAFC — East Stand

Transforming a stadium with chanting

Challenge

Having created a bespoke font (Filthy Seagull Display) for Brighton & Hove Albion, the Premier League club commissioned us to design a set of wall graphics for the East Stand concourse at the Amex Stadium in Brighton. Covering a huge area with many wall breaks and partitions, maintaining a strong sense of cohesion throughout the design was key.

Solution

Taking inspiration from the club’s branding, we designed a visual kit consisting of vertical stripes, a duo-tone colourway, and our own bespoke font. This kit of parts formed the basis for all the wall graphics and created a sense of unity and consistency across the large concourse.

Starting with the main wall, we designed a series of fly posters that illustrate supporter chants and club songs heard from the stadium terraces. Moving on to the second wall, we highlighted statistics celebrating the Seagulls' first season in the Premier League. The third wall pays tribute to Glenn Murray's 100th goal for the club, while the fourth wall showcases fan quotes alongside location photography from the Sussex coastline. Finally, the fifth wall displays a design history of the club crest, from 1948 to 2011.

We produced and installed all the wall graphics using a heat-sealed 3M Film which shows the wall texture beneath the artwork. This effect fitted perfectly with the fly-poster aesthetic.
