Boxpark Shoreditch
Launching a revolution with a chevron
Challenge
Boxpark Shoreditch launched in 2012 as the world’s first pop-up mall, built from shipping containers and home to 30+ independent and established retailers. Within a year, however, the business was struggling to attract enough footfall to support its tenants.
We began working as Boxpark’s in-house design studio in 2013, a partnership that continues today. The immediate challenge was to increase visitors and encourage repeat footfall.
Solution
Using advertising sites such as Shoreditch Overground Station, street hoardings, and fly posters, we evolved the brand’s verbal identity from Pop-Up Mall, to Instore / Online / Mobile (via the Boxpark Marketplace app), to its current mantra: Eat. Drink. Play.
Alongside the introduction of food & drink traders, bars, events, monthly exhibitions and upper deck roofing, we worked intensively with the management team on all creative output to transition Boxpark Shoreditch into the cultural destination it became. This success drove major increases in footfall, supported its traders, and secured investment for Boxpark’s next two sites: Boxpark Croydon and Boxpark Wembley.
